Horizontal stripes run across a soft, fine-gauge cotton knit in our grey marble colourway. We shaped this pullover with a generous cut that hangs clear of the torso, finishing the neck with a close ribbed collar. A single patch pocket sits on the chest, breaking up the banded pattern.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy body cut. The straight shape drops well away from the ribs and waist. It gives you space to move, ending near the hips with a plain hem that sits loose over skirts or denim.
  • Crewneck and pocket. The collar is banded in dense ribbing to hold its circular shape through daily wear. On the left chest, a patch pocket is sewn square against the knit, aligning cleanly with the horizontal striping.
  • Full length sleeves. Long sleeves follow the arm without clinging. The cuffs finish in matched ribbing that keeps the wrists tidy when pushed up or left down over the hands.
  • Washing and care. Wash by hand in cool water or send to a dry cleaner to keep the knit shape true. Press out excess water between towels, then dry flat away from direct heat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
