What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and pocket. The round neck is finished with a neat band that holds its circle, while a knit patch pocket breaks across the horizontal red stripes on the chest.
  • Roomy straight drape. The body sits wide and hangs down toward the lower hip, giving the fabric room to move naturally rather than pulling tight.
  • Full length sleeves. We knit the sleeves long to balance the dropped shoulder line, finishing at the wrist with light ribbing that stays pushed up when wanted.
  • Washing and shape. Wash by hand in cool water or dry clean to protect the red striping. Press excess moisture out in a towel and dry flat on a rack.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
