What we would tell you in the studio

  • Cotton yarn hand. We use a soft cotton yarn knitted into a light gauge. The fabric rests cool against bare skin and holds its shape without feeling heavy during indoor wear.
  • Crewneck and chest pocket. The collar is banded in clean ribbing that sits flat against the collarbone. A single patch pocket sits on the chest, matching the horizontal stripe line.
  • Straight long sleeves. The sleeves are cut long to gather softly over the wrists. Narrow ribbing at the cuffs keeps the cuffs in place when you push them up your forearms.
  • Care for cotton knits. Hand wash in cool water or dry clean to preserve the blue dye. Press out excess water with a towel and lay the sweater flat on a rack to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
