What we would tell you in the studio

  • High roll collar. The neck is knit as a tall ribbed collar that folds over or stays upright against the throat. It sits softly without gripping too tight.
  • Roomy straight body. We shaped the body with a wide cut and low armholes. The fabric falls straight down and stays off the torso across a full day of wear.
  • Stepped slit hem. Deep slits open at each side of the lower edge. This lets the long hem rest over trousers or skirts without catching or bunching when you sit.
  • Gentle knit care. Wash by hand or run on a gentle cycle in cold water with mild soap. Press out excess water and dry the piece flat to preserve its shape.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
