What we would tell you in the studio

  • High neck construction. The ribbed roll neck stands upright to keep drafts off the collarbone without pressing tight against the throat. You can fold the collar over once or let it pool softly around the neckline.
  • Dropped shoulder line. We placed the shoulder seams low on the arm to build an easy, square drape through the chest and torso. The knit sits broad across the upper back and falls into full-length sleeves.
  • Hem vents and length. The bottom hem extends long for full lower-body coverage and features open side slits. These vents keep the fabric from bunching around the legs when you walk or sit.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle with mild soap. Press out excess water with a towel, avoid the tumble dryer, and lay the piece flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
