We knit this pullover in a pale pink yarn with a soft hand and natural stretch. The high roll neck stands upright or turns down cleanly, while the body falls loose away from the waist with side slits along the uneven hem. Long sleeves taper down from dropped shoulders.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Neck and shoulder line. The high neck folds over or stands loose against the collar. We dropped the shoulder seams down the upper arm so the fabric settles softly across the chest without pulling tight.
  • Long split hem. The back hem drops lower than the front to add length through the torso. Side vents break up the wide hemline, letting the knit swing freely as you walk rather than catching against trousers.
  • Soft blended yarn. We chose a smooth yarn blend that holds its shape through the wide body without feeling heavy. The surface stays soft against bare skin, with enough stretch to move easily through the elbows and back.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cool water or select a delicate machine cycle with a mild detergent. Press excess water into a towel and dry the garment flat on a drying rack so the heavy hem does not stretch.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
