What we would tell you in the studio

  • Neck and shoulder. The high collar folds over or bunches naturally along the neck without clinging. Dropped shoulder seams lower the armholes, giving the upper sleeve extra room to move freely.
  • Hem and side slits. The hem drops low with an uneven line and deep side vents. These slits let the heavy knit split over trousers or skirts instead of catching when you walk or sit.
  • Yarn and gauge. Spun with viscose, polyamide, and polyester, the knit has substantial weight and noticeable stretch. The surface stays smooth to the touch, holding a quiet blue cast across the indigo dye lot.
  • Care and shape. Wash cold on a gentle cycle or by hand with a mild soap. Reshape the damp sweater and dry it flat on a clean towel so the weight of the wet yarn does not pull the hem longer.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
