Oversized Sweaters for Women
We knit this pullover with an open, relaxed cut that hangs away from the torso rather than hugging it. The plain crew neckline keeps the collar flat, while exposed outside seam detailing runs along the panels. Long sleeves finish in clean vertical-grain cuffs, and the split hem lands low over trousers or leggings.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Exposed outer seams. Visible stitching lines the exterior joins across the shoulders and body panels. This structural detail breaks up the broad knit surface and gives the apricot yarn a distinct, textured edge.
- Split tunic hem. The hem drops past the hip line with deep side splits on either side. These openings let the lower edge part naturally when you walk or sit, preventing the hem band from bunching up around the waist.
- Vertical grain cuffs. The sleeves finish with tightly set rib cuffs worked in a clean vertical grain. They grip lightly at the wrists, allowing you to push the extra sleeve length up your forearm without losing tension.
- Cold cycle care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water using a mild detergent, or wash by hand. Reshape the damp knit carefully and lay it flat on a drying rack to keep the tunic length true.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
