Oversized Sweaters for Women
We knit this pullover with a broad, loose drape that hangs clear of the body. The rounded crew neckline keeps the collar flat, while the exposed exterior seams add clear structure across the shoulders and body. It pairs easily with narrow trousers, denim, or knit skirts through cool weather.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Exposed seam details. The outside seams run along the shoulders and sides as raised ridges. This structural stitching gives the plain-knit body definition while keeping the inside face smooth and flat against base layers.
- Cuffs and sleeve line. Long sleeves drop from a relaxed armhole and narrow into vertical ribbing at the wrist. The ribbed cuff holds its position if pushed up the forearm and keeps the volume tidy at the hand.
- Split tunic hem. The lower edge lands well past the hips with deep side splits that let the fabric part naturally as you sit or walk. The hem sits flat without bunching over jeans or leggings.
- Cold wash care. Hand wash in cool water or select a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Avoid bleach and lay the sweater flat on a drying rack so the heavy, relaxed knit keeps its shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
