Oversized Sweaters for Women
We knit this pullover with a generous cut that hangs loose from the shoulders down to the lower hem. The crew neckline sits clean at the base of the neck, balanced by exposed exterior seam lines and a deep split hem. It pulls on over plain tees or base layers for cold weather.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Exposed seam details. Raised seams run along the outside of the knit rather than tucked inside. This construction adds clear vertical lines across the body and sleeves, giving the plain stitch surface an unfinished, structural look.
- Roomy body cut. The body is cut wide so the fabric drops straight down without clinging. Side splits at the bottom hem give the hemline room to move over trousers, leggings, or slip skirts without bunching up around the hips.
- Crew neckline and cuffs. A simple ribbed crew neck keeps the collar close to the throat. Matching vertical ribbing finishes the wrists, gathering the wider sleeves so they rest neatly over the hands.
- Yarn and wash care. We recommend hand washing in cool water with a gentle soap to protect the yarn. If using a machine, select a cold delicate cycle and lay the knit flat on a towel away from direct heat to dry.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
