What we would tell you in the studio

  • Exposed seam lines. We brought the seam allowances to the outside of the body and sleeves. These raised ridges give definition to the solid dark apricot knit without adding bulk or stiffening the drape across the shoulders.
  • Crew neckline and cuffs. The plain round crew neck sits flat at the collarbone with a narrow band of trim. Vertical ribbing at the cuffs pulls the long sleeves in slightly at the wrists so they stay in place.
  • Split tunic hem. The lower edge lands long toward the hips with open side splits. This open construction lets the front and back panels hang without bunching over trousers, leggings, or skirts when you move or sit.
  • Yarn hand and wash. The blended knit feels smooth and soft directly against the skin. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with mild detergent or wash by hand, then reshape the garment and dry it flat.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
