What we would tell you in the studio

  • Outside seam construction. Visible exterior seam lines run along the panels to define the colorblock layout. The stitch work gives texture to the joined edges without adding extra weight to the body.
  • Neckline and sleeves. The crewneck sits flat against the collarbone with a narrow band of trim. Down the arms, long sleeves end in vertical rib cuffs that gather the extra width neatly at the wrists.
  • Split hemline. Side vents open the lower hem so the knit moves easily over trousers or skirts. The length provides low hip coverage while the straight edge maintains a balanced line.
  • Care and handling. Wash by hand or use a cold gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Lay the piece flat on a towel to dry so the weight of the damp knit does not stretch the shape.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
