What we would tell you in the studio

  • Exposed seam details. We placed the join lines on the outside of the knit rather than turning them inward. These raised ridges trace the shoulders and sleeves, giving clean structural definition across the mint green surface.
  • Crew neckline and cuffs. The round crew neck sits flat against the collarbone with a narrow ribbed band. Vertical ribbing at the wrists gathers the long sleeves slightly so they stay in place when pushed up the arm.
  • Side split hem. Deep splits open up each side seam at the hem. This keeps the long tunic cut from catching when you sit or walk, letting the front and back panels drape independently over your lower layers.
  • Cold wash care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle machine cycle with mild soap. Lay the sweater flat on a dry towel to dry so the wet knit keeps its original shape and does not stretch out.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
