What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crewneck and outside seams. The plain round crewneck sits flat against the collarbone. Visible outside seams run along the construction lines to give the soft knit structured definition across the shoulders.
  • Sleeves with vertical grain. Long sleeves finish with vertical grain ribbed cuffs that pull the fabric close at the wrists. This keeps the sleeves in place when pushed up the forearms.
  • Split hemline. The lower hem drops past the hip toward the knee with deep side slits. This open split lets the long tunic length drape freely over trousers or leggings without catching.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Skip the bleach and lay the sweater flat to dry so the pattern and shape hold over time.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
