Oversized Sweaters for Women
We knit this pullover with a generous, loose body that sits clear of the torso. The plain round crewneck anchors the shape up top, while exterior seam detailing runs along the knit for texture. The hem drops low toward the hip, vented at the sides so the fabric moves without pulling.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Exposed seam lines. We brought the seam construction to the outside face of the sweater. These raised ridges give definition to the dropped shoulders and long body without adding weight or bulk to the knit.
- Crewneck and cuffs. The neckline is finished with a clean crew band that rests flat at the collarbone. Narrow vertical ribbing pulls the long sleeves tidy at the wrists so you can push them up your arms.
- Split tunic hem. The lower edge falls down toward the hip with open side vents. This break in the lower hem allows the loose knit to clear trousers or skirts easily when you sit or walk.
- Care and washing. Hand wash this knit in cold water or use a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Skip the bleach and dry the sweater flat to maintain the shape of the open hem and seams.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
