What we would tell you in the studio

  • Exposed seam details. We brought the seam ridges to the outside along the shoulders and body lines. This gives the flat knit surface texture and marks out the geometry of the dropped sleeves without adding bulk inside against your skin.
  • Crew neck and cuffs. The neckline is finished with a simple round crew band that sits close without gripping. Vertical ribbing at the wrist holds each long sleeve in place, whether you push the cuffs up or leave them resting over the hand.
  • Split hem cut. The hem falls low and opens into side vents. Because the split lets the front and back panels hang independently, the knit settles cleanly over trousers or leggings instead of bunching up around the hips when you sit.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash this knit in cold water with mild soap, or run it through a gentle machine cycle. Lay it flat on a dry towel to dry so the heavy oversized shape keeps its proportions without stretching out.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
