Oversized Sweaters for Women
Horizontal black stripes run across a soft, fine-gauge knit with exposed outside seams along the body and sleeves. The crewneck sits close at the collar while the wide cut drops away from the shoulders and hangs loose to the hem. It layers easily over base tees or under heavier winter coats.

What we would tell you in the studio
- Exposed seam construction. We ran the seam joins on the outside of the knit to break up the horizontal stripes. The stitching adds visible texture along the dropped shoulders, the sides, and down the length of the long sleeves.
- Crew collar and ribbing. The plain round neckline is bound with fine ribbed trim that holds its shape through regular wear. Vertical grain cuffs finish each sleeve and gather the fabric lightly at the wrist to keep cold air out.
- Side split hem. The hem falls past the hips with open side vents on each seam. These slits allow the roomy body to drape naturally and keep the lower edge from bunching when you sit, walk, or tuck the front.
- Cold water wash care. Hand wash this knit in cold water or run it on a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Avoid bleach, skip the tumble dryer, and lay the pullover flat on a drying rack so the knit keeps its shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
