What we would tell you in the studio

  • Exposed seam details. We brought the seam ridges to the outside of the knit rather than tucking them inside. These raised lines add texture across the shoulders and down the sleeves, giving the plain knit structure.
  • Crew neckline and cuffs. The plain round crew neck is bound with fine ribbing that keeps its circular shape. Matching vertical ribbing at the wrists gathers the long sleeves so they stay in place when pushed up.
  • Split tunic hem. The hem drops past the hip line with open side splits on each side. These vents allow the lower edge to move freely over trousers or skirts without catching or bunching around the seat.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Avoid bleach. Lay the pullover flat on a clean towel to dry so the heavy knit retains its original shape.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
